Two small fires near East Butte Contained with Initial Attack

Fire crews are responding to an approximately half-acre fire start in the Deschutes National Forest Fort Rock Area east of Paulina Peak and China Hat Campground with on-the-ground and air resources. Resources include a hand crew, three engines, a water tender and fixed-wing aircraft.

1:00pm Initial Attack Update: There are two starts near East Butte (Incidents 0957 & 0958). One has been confirmed as lightning caused and the second is also likely lightning caused.

4:30pm Initial Attack Update: Incident 0958 was contained as of 3:39pm today.

6:30pm Initial Attack Update: Incident 0957 was contained as of 6:08pm today.
