TEXT “COFIRE” TO 888-777 TO RECEIVE WILDFIRE & PRESCRIBED FIRE TEXT ALERTS

Crazy Creek Fire Update – July 24, 2024, 11 a.m.

Central Oregon — Firefighters responded to Incident #501, the Crazy Creek Fire, on the afternoon of Monday, July 22. The fire is located in the Paulina Ranger District on the Ochoco National Forest approximately 5 miles east of Big Summit Prairie, south of Forest Service Road (FSR) 30 and east of FSR 100. The fire is currently estimated at 5,000 acres and is 0% contained.

Due to increased complexity, a Central Oregon Type 3 incident management team led by Incident Commander Jeremy Gottfried took command of the fire yesterday, July 23. Firefighters will focus today on establishing anchor points on FSR 30 and FSR 100.  

Resources on scene of the Crazy Creek Fire include 2 handcrews, 7 engines, 1 water tender, 1 skidgeon and 10 overhead.
